James served as Vice President of Sales and was a founding officer at RealNetworks, the leader in streaming media technology on the Internet. James served in this position from 1995 to 1998, pre-product through IPO. The valuation at IPO was $300 million, which subsequently grew, to over a $12 billion market capitalization. James grew the sales organization to over 100 sales and support staff and continually exceeded quota by growing revenue from $0 to $32 million.

In 1999, he joined Dazel Corporation, an enterprise software startup, as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. James directed Dazel's marketing, partner program and business development organizations. He developed the indirect and integrator sales channels, accounting for $20 million in revenue. These activities contributed to the acquisition of Dazel by Hewlett Packard in July 1999.

James currently serves on the board and is an active advisor to several startup companies and a public company. These including internet entertainment appliances & services, handheld to enterprise applications, streaming media, and human resources software, video network management and video conferencing - Forgent Networks (formerly VTEL). Previously, James headed Apple Computer's enterprise marketing and executive sales efforts in the early 1990's. This followed senior marketing, sales and general management positions in VERSANT (object database startup, now public), CIMLINC (CAD/CAM startup) and MicroAge (PC sales and distribution, now public).

James began his career with 13 years at DuPont in technical, engineering, research, manufacturing, and IT roles in DuPont electronics and biomedical startup businesses. He became the first IT Director in DuPont's Biomedical Division, directing both business and technical systems. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar University and an MBA from the University of Delaware.
